The Role Southern Pines Farms is a respected, progressive family agribusiness operating in the picturesque Marion Bay on the York Peninsula, South Australia. The enterprise successfully runs a mixed operation, focusing on broadacre cropping (beans, barley, canola, lentils, oats) alongside a livestock component of approximately 100 sheep and 50 cattle. We run a well-equipped farm with a modern fleet of predominantly New Holland machinery. We are looking for an honest, reliable, and skilled Experienced Farm Hand to be a core part of our small, dedicated team. This is a focused, full-time operational role. You will be actively involved in the entire crop cycle—from machinery preparation and maintenance to seeding, in-crop management, and harvest. Key duties include the accurate operation of large-scale equipment, carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs, and ensuring the efficient delivery of grain to port. You will also assist with general livestock duties as required. Capability with farm technology, including satellite guidance, is expected. Experience with farm record-keeping software like AgWorld is a definite advantage. A strong work ethic and clear communication are vital for our seamless, 12-metre controlled traffic farming system. The Offer A competitive salary will be negotiated to reflect your skills and experience. The position includes a comfortable 3-bedroom house on the property and 4 weeks of annual leave. This is an opportunity for a long-term, stable role in a successful family business. Beyond the farm gate, Marion Bay offers an excellent lifestyle balance. The property is located near Innes National Park, providing world-class fishing, surfing, and camping. The nearest towns, York Town and Minlaton, are about an hour away, and a school bus conveniently stops right at the gate. The Ideal Candidate We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on operator—someone who is practical, resilient, and thrives as a team member. You will possess a proven background in broadacre agriculture, specifically in an operational Farm Hand capacity, along with: A minimum of 3 years of practical experience in agriculture, with a strong focus on machinery operation and fieldwork. A current Heavy Combination (HC) truck licence is a must; a Multi-Combination (MC) licence is highly regarded, or a demonstrable commitment to obtaining it quickly. Strong diagnostic skills for equipment troubleshooting and maintenance. A proactive approach to daily tasks and a commitment to maintaining a safe, positive work environment. Prior experience operating precision guidance systems and familiarity with farm management software (e.g., AgWorld) is beneficial.
